This is an unusual, large floor lamp designed to give off a dramatic, diffused light at a seated level. The light is very flattering, gives off no glare, and is strong enough to read by if the rest of the room is dark. It
was designed as a ready-to-assemble project, meaning that it has a minimal number of parts, packs completely flat, and can be assembled in a few minutes.

The materials used are black walnut for the legs and synthetic waffle mesh for the shade. The shape of the lamp enables its placement either against a wall or free-standing, as a room divider.

The illustration demonstrates the ease with which the lamp is assembled.

This project was the result of research into indoor lighting. The lamp was designed as a hypothetical product for Urban Outfitters, which at the time was looking to expand its furniture offerings by offering innovative products to a young audience.

These are construction drawings for a traveling museum exhibit on energy consumption, part of a large project on the subject. The purpose of the exibit is to show the monetary savings resulting from various household appliances being turned off when not in use.

The exhibit has various video displays in addition to a parabolic speaker above the user, localizing the radiation of sound. The scale of the exibit is such that it is both useable and legible for children, adults and the wheelchair-bound.

The name "CommuSpark" is the name given to the energy saving initiative, also being associated with a variety of indoor energy-use panels that allow homeowners to monitor their energy use througout the day. This exhibit is one part of a multi-faceted project that uses a brand identity to encourage mindful energy use.
